The truth is that not every sports handicapper knows his stuff, but there are quite a few out there who know what they’re doing. Here is what to look for if you’re looking for a great handicapper.

Specialization
The best handicappers in the game are the guys who know their respective sport and know it well. Across the board handicappers are well and good, but look for guys who do well in their given specialization. Handicapping in football is much different than handicapping in basketball or baseball. Some guys have the insight on certain sports, so don’t take just one expert for all your betting pleasure.

Play the Field
Don’t be afraid to search around and find the best guy available. The next great sports handicapper might be someone that you haven’t even heard of yet. You should consider lots of guys, even if they aren’t quite household names. The internet is a powerful resource that allows for lots and lots of good information and searching. Take note to visit as many sites as possible before settling on the handicapper of your choice.

Sports Handicappers Make Mistakes
Believe it or not, even the so-called “experts” make some mistakes. They will not get everything right every time, nor will their losing streaks last that long. Have enough patience to wait things out and get a feel for how these people will do long term. The guys who can consistently pick winners over the course of many years are the ones who you will want to follow. A flash in the pan may be nice for a while, but it won’t lead to any consistency in your bankroll.
