Guide for Football Handicappers

For all of the football handicappers out there, a bit of advice is needed. You won’t get rich picking pro or college football games unless you really understand what you’re doing. Here are some very basic rules to follow if you plan to make money as a football handicapper.

Home Underdogs
Don’t fall in love with favorites, especially if they are playing on the road. More times than not, these teams are running into traps. That is not to say that every road favorite is a loser. It’s just that the majority of the time, home underdogs will perform well, especially in the NFL and in major college football.

Respect the Elements
Football, for the most part, is a game played outside with lots of different factors. It’s an oblong ball that can bounce a number of different ways in a number of different types of weather. Understand the temperature, the wind, and the precipitation, especially in regards to how that might impact the teams in question.

Follow the Trends
Though not all football handicappers are big into numbers, each of them has some way of incorporating trends into their system. Trust your football knowledge and your intuition, but don’t be afraid to check out the numbers surrounding each game, either.
